THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

The fundraiser on Friday night was a huge success.  The science activities and dinner were attended by 80 guests and several more student volunteers.  The silent auction raised $1500 through the  items given by generous and caring individuals and local businesses.  In addition, $400 was donated through the Wishing Well.  On the evening, an amazing $2000 was raised for DST.

I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to come out and support my project.  The diverse group comprised of community members, students, families of students, formers students, teachers and friends.  I was honoured that Barrie Hammond, Director of the Ottawa Carleton District School Board dropped in to show support on behalf of the Board.  My students, who managed the kitchen, served the meals, set up, cleaned up and ran the auction and the music were amazing.  I am proud to be associated with you all.  I will miss you.

Apart from the fundraiser event, many individuals have stepped up to make financial contributions to Do Science.  I am so grateful for the faith and confidence that you have shown to me through this project.  I will make sure that your investments are well spent and that the equipment purchased for the lending library is protected and well managed.

I am heading off on Tuesday to get started and am extremely excited.  I could not do this without you all, so in effect I am taking pieces of each of you with me.

Richard Ye, a student who is a master web designer and programmer has offered to create a web site for Do Science Tanzania, so keep watching as we get things up and running.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
